Mr. Thony Maratin Saba is an experienced Drilling, Fluids, and Cementing Advisor with over 25 years in the oil and gas industry, specializing in complex well operations across offshore and onshore environments. His expertise spans drilling and completion fluids, cementing, solids control, and waste management, with a strong foundation in geology as a graduate of the Universiti Malaya.

Throughout his career, he has contributed to the success of numerous drilling campaigns, ranging from exploration and development to Ultra-HTHP, Deepwater, ERD, and geothermal wells. He has led fluid design and optimization, managed high-stakes wellbore challenges, introduced cutting-edge technologies, and played a pivotal role in improving drilling efficiency and environmental performance.

As a strategic advisor, he worked with leading operators such as Jadestone Energy, Carigali Hess, HESS E&P, PETROFAC, PTTEP, and Schlumberger, ensuring cost-effective and technically sound solutions across Southeast Asia and beyond. He is passionate about mentoring young engineers, driving innovation, and fostering cross-cultural collaboration.

Committed to excellence, he has also contributed to industry development through SPE papers, technical presentations, and advisory roles in academic panels. His approach blends technical depth, operational insight, and continuous learning, delivering safe, sustainable, and performance-driven drilling operations.

It is hoped that through his vast experience and contribution to the nation, Mr. Thony will bring the collaboration between the industry and CICT to fruition.
